Here
are a few samples from mailings:
Today's
bonehead award goes to a Ford dealership in Tonawanda New York
for giving away a customer's car to a thief. This story was reported
in the Buffalo News.
Stephen Gandel left his red Mercury Sable at the dealership for
service. During the afternoon, a repair technician entered the
waiting room and saw a man who looked like he was waiting for
something. So the technician asks him if he's waiting for the
red Sable. When the man said he was the technician handed him
the keys. The car, later found, had some two-thousand dollars
damage done to it which the dealer says they'll repair for free.
From the Chicago Sun-Times: Burlington Homes in Bakersfield,
California has announced that it will no longer sell homes to lawyers.
They say their "experience is that home buyers who are also lawyers
threaten litigation (requiring significantly greater management
time as well as legal fees and resolution costs) at a dramatically
higher rate than home buyers who are not lawyers." A lawyer is suing.
Today's
bonehead award goes to the State of Minnesota bomb squad. A few
days after Jesse Ventura was elected governor somebody called
in a bomb threat declaring they left a bomb at the state capital.
The ever impressive bomb squad arrived and took all necessary
precautions. Everyone knew their life and limb were safe in their
hands. Until .... a gust of wind blew the package out of the back
of the bomb squad truck onto the road where a car then ran over
it. So much with instilling the public with awe! and thank you
to the "lucky" motorist for helping to prove there really was
no bomb.
Today's bonehead
award goes to Virginia Chadwick for coming up with one of the
stupidest ideas ever to get revenge on her husband. If there ever
was a demonstration of cutting off one's nose to spite their face,
then this is it. The story was reported by the UK Mirror.
Virginia Chadwick wanted revenge on her estranged husband. So
she hired a 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy for 2 pounds
each (about $3 ?) to beat someone up so she could blame it on
her husband. So who was to be beaten up?. Nope, not her husband.
Nope not someone else. Her! to beat her up. And beat up she was.
This plot almost worked too. Her husband Paul, 31, was convicted
of assault and fined 450 pounds and faced losing his job as a
prison manager. But the kids admitted the whole story about how
she paid them to hit her in the face (of all places) with a beans
can. She's being charged with perjury.
How about this profound
quote from Representative John Kasich (R-Ohio) on why he should
be the Republican presidential nominee.
"I think people are looking for someone who is of the people."
This is so true. But we haven't heard yet from the animal rights
folks so we'll reserve final judgment.
